Eric Hinrichs, PGA

Eric Hinrichs, a lifelong golfer, transitioned from setting records at Thomas Jefferson High School to becoming a golf professional. For 24 years, he’s managed Riverbend’s course and organized junior golf programs. Eric’s expertise in the golf swing, especially as a top left-handed player in the PNW PGA section, has benefited numerous players, including assisting Josh Immordino as his caddie in the 2008 U.S. Open Championship. With 7 years alongside David Gibson and his use of V1 video software, Eric is well-equipped to meet your instructional needs.

Marti O’Neill, PGA

Head Professional

Marti O’Neill, a teaching professional at Riverbend for 27 years, trained under top golf instructors and designers in the Northwest. He gained valuable experience at Seattle’s golf courses under Tom Sovay, a seven-time Teacher of the Year. Working with David Gibson and Chuck Evans further enriched his expertise. Marti earned his PGA Class “A” certification in just 9 months, graduating in the top 5% of his class with honors from Titleist-Footjoy Worldwide. With over 18,000 lessons, his personalized approach has elevated players of all abilities. He received the Western Washington PGA’s President’s Plaque in 2005 for outstanding contributions to player development. Marti uses V1 video software for instruction.

Josh Immordino, PGA

Josh Immordino, a standout golfer since his junior years, excelled at Kentwood High School and as a three-time All-American at Western Washington University. He boasts a string of amateur successes, including titles like the Seattle Amateur and the Washington State Open. Transitioning to the professional circuit, he clinched victories like the 2007
Oregon State Open and qualified for the 2008 U.S. Open Championship. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Josh’s patient approach and personal journey make him an ideal instructor for players of all levels, particularly junior golfers.

Jon Shabel

Jon Shabel began his golf journey in 2002 at Riverbend Driving Range and Auburn Golf Course. He’s spent many years assisting at Riverbend’s 18-hole golf course and Discount Golf Center, focusing on club-fitting. Jon’s expertise extends to golf swing fundamentals, fitness, and club fitting, making him an ideal instructor for all skill levels. He’s also contributed to junior camps and served as an assistant instructor for the First Tee of Greater Seattle. With his friendly attitude, Jon ensures a positive learning experience for
everyone.

Garrett Wong

Assistant Professional

Garrett Wong’s golf journey started at Riverbend. A standout athlete at Kentridge High School and later at Pacific Lutheran University, he pursued a degree in Finance. Despite his baseball focus in college, Garrett’s passion for golf persisted. He’s dedicated to improving his own game and learning about golf swing techniques. As an engaging and personable instructor, Garrett is an excellent choice for both junior and adult newcomers to golf seeking improvement.

Group Golf Instruction
Riverbend offers monthly group lessons, providing four hours of instruction with range balls and clubs if needed. Classes meet weekly, accommodating six to eight beginners. Intermediate classes are available upon request. If the scheduled times don’t suit you, we can arrange a custom schedule for groups of six or more. Lesson topics include setup, swing fundamentals, short game practice, and etiquette, weather permitting.
